Terrorism is actually a pretty simple but specific definition. Terrorists use unlawful violence and threats of violence to influence the government or an international governmental organisation, or to intimidate the public. They do this in pursuit of a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.

It doesn’t take much money or many resources to engage in violence or even make threats. Certainly having money and resources at your disposal make you more effective but it’s a rather low but still specific bar to cross to be considered a terrorist.

Getting lucky on the stock market with the large trust fund your parents gave you isn’t exactly what I’d call “earning.”

You are downplaying Trump. The op comment said Biden flooding Israel with weapons, I pointed out that it will absolutely be worse under Trump and trump’s rhetoric is promising that it will be worse. Then you came along and got pissy that I’m pointing out that genocide absolutely will get worse under Trump. I don’t deal with absolutes, I prefer to to operate under the assumption that things can be complicated and to varying degrees of goodness or badness and I push for minimizing overall harm. Biden and the US government overall is providing weapons to a genocidal state because of the treaties ae have, Trump will absolutely send more regardless of treaties.

I don’t like genocide. If the feasible options presented were between no genocide or yes genocide, I’m going to pick no genocide. But those are not the viable options, it’s slow rolled equipment deployment to a genocidal state vs enthusiastic floodgates of weapons to a genocidal state. And I’m going to choose the one that is the least harm.

The only people pushing the genocide Joe line while also downplaying how trump will actively be worse has always been trumpers trying to discourage liberals progressives and leftists from voting.

Nope, not what I said at all. I recognize that Biden is begrudgingly honoring the treaties we have with Israel as is expected by the supremacy clause of the Constitution (the constitution, federal laws and any treaties signed by the presidency are the Supreme law of the land) and I’m pointing out that Trump will enthusiastically send weapons regardless of any treaties.

Besides Joe isn’t even running for president any more, this whole Genocide Joe talking point doesn’t even matter at this point.

This is a pretty reasonable take on the death penalty, one I actually pretty closely align with, even with as much as I don’t like it. It needs to be the absolute last resort for only the most heinous and indefensible of crimes.

For me, even just making the switch from Reddit to Lemmy has done quite a lot for mental health and really helped reshape my social media diet into something much better.

On Lemmy I encounter a lot fewer true assholes on the platform (theres still snark and sarcasm and inside jokes, but I liked that aspect of reddit), it’s a lot slower of stream of content, the posts take longer to change so I don’t get stuck in an infinite scroll of perpetually new content, and I’ve rebalanced where I’m spending my time online, more informational and wholesome side of youtube and a discord community that I found that I really like.

But yeah even taking a break from these every so often is still a good idea.
