JACKSONVILLE, FL—Shedding new light on the role of self-perception in human psychology, a new study published Monday by the Mayo Clinic found that smacking one’s own head while yelling “Stupid, stupid, stupid” could be an early sign of low self-esteem. “While previous generations saw the act of batt...

  • Lemmy is still pretty meager, but it might grow further

I think it's inevitable. It may be just a slow steady trickle from here on but I wouldn't be surprised to see another change bring over another mass exodus (does old.reddit.com still work?).

What seems clear to me is that Lemmy has a lot of users that actively don't want to attract the full Reddit crowd,

I think this largely depends on what you mean by this. Reddit as an experience had gradually gone downhill for many years. Momentum and habit kept me there despite that. But when I could no longer use my app the habit was broken and the content wasn't really worth it on its own.

And either way, even users who actively feel more strongly about "redditors" I don't think they really have a say either way if they decide to come over.

  • I guess by that metric I've relapsed a few times. But just look at how much I'm on Lemmy. That's a lot of engagement and content that reddit used to be getting that they're now not and surely that's more valuable of a loss.

  • life in the machine
  • No the drums I actually just sampled a classic break just to get a rhythm. I'd probably replace or chop and manipulate it more though since for the first one since they're basically dry (though many people release tracks like that). The second one I chopped and stretched so much that all you hear actually came from a drum break. But with the "groove" the other sounds were synthesized and played by me. I also had an electric bass track but I wasn't happy with the mix (and I still need more practice).

I don't really share my stuff so thank you for taking the time to listen and for being kind.

Oh and Dorian is a mode. Basically a key/scale. Not a major or minor key but kind of something in-between? You can tell I've put more time into production/fx than music theory but I'm working on it.

  • The artwork was very low effort because I did it at a moment before commenting lol. More an essance of what my bs would look like. Sound is my passion and I put I've put way more time into it. Though I'm still very amateurish. The linked snippet was just something I did this week to practice dorian and some other things. It's not something I've worked on long and would release. And yes drugs are an influence in my work despite the style.

It also doesn't fit OP but some other stuff I have bounced to my phone might.

This one for example. It could be on an EP with the OP art

  • life in the machine
  • That sounds interesting and not what I was expecting.

Regarding the artwork, do you think you'd be more likely to check out new music with artwork of the original post or more something like this?:

Edit: this was just a quick doodle on an already burned page but now I'm thinking about what it would sound like 🤔 It does not sound like this.

  • life in the machine
  • Thank you (I guess?). I've seen some musicians get backlash, but at the same time physical releases are a far far off concept for me so maybe digital only makes it less of a faux pas?

I don't know why I'm pondering this as if it matters.

Nobody knows who the fuck I am lol. Even people in real life don't know where I post my stuff.

The Beatles - Why Don't We Do It In The Road?

    Connection: monkey comparison

    >McCartney wrote the song after seeing two monkeys copulating in the street while on retreat in Rishikesh, India, with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He marvelled in the simplicity of this natural scenario when compared to the emotional turmoil of human relationships. He later said: >>A male [monkey] just hopped on the back of this female and gave her one, as they say in the vernacular. Within two or three seconds he hopped off again and looked around as if to say "It wasn't me!" and she looked around as if there'd been some mild disturbance ... And I thought ... that's how simple the act of procreation is ... We have horrendous problems with it, and yet animals don't.

How do I access the Web Archives addon on Firefox mobile (efficiently)?

addons.mozilla.org Web Archives – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox Android (en-CA)

Web Archives – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox Android (en-CA)

I'm trying to use the Web Archives addons on Firefox Mobile and I have it installed and can configure it but I'm not sure how to actually use it. I can't right click like on desktop. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Thanks.

Edit: so I guess I can go into the main menu, open my extension list, select Web Archives, then select the archive source I want to view the current page in. I suppose it works, but with that many taps it hardly seems any faster than just copying the url and pasting it in an archive.is bookmark. If anyone know a more efficient way please let me know.

Edit2: actually, changing this setting and reducing the included archives helps
