There’s been so many underwhelming Newcastle players where I thought we’d get more than we got - Boumsong, Luque, Cabella, Thauvin, Sels, Muto - but really it’s impossible to declare that Owen was anything other than a disaster

Maybe when Howe leaves we can appoint a super-team of Darth Vader, Dr Evil, Thanos and Sauron
Feel like that’s what Cantona is doing by himself, not least with his new act of selling out theatres with a musical tour
I think with 10 injuries, 2 suspensions and a few looking like they had their momentum impeded by knocks, we’re beyond a few absences now. But this can happen - indeed Spurs & Brighton have a lot of players out, Chelsea have struggled with injuries as well, and we’re not the first team where extra Euro games has had a drawback on player availability. Hell its not the first time at Newcastle - happened in 2006/07 and 2012/13 as well where extra games just totally ruined our ability to keep players fit
Yesterday was crap but understandable as it did feel like it was getting too much. We need to spend the next two weeks figuring out better ways to manage the workload, not least given December is going to be busy and most of our injured won’t be back until at least Christmas
I remember Palermo in 2006 where he was the only fit striker so played by default and scored the only goal for Newcastle to beat the team that, at the time, lead Serie A. What a bizarre day that was
