and don't talk about alternatives, since the developed world can't even give 100 billion dollars to developing nations they promised years(in 2009) ago.

  • plastic waste per capita: the US is at top(if we exclude small island nations)
plastic waste in absolute terms: the US is not far behind China, with India at a distant third place.

the reduction is plastic waste generation in China is far more than that of US1.

so, what I mean to say is that more people ≠ more pollution. but I do agree that the problem is to be tackled with active participation of the government, which won't be there because of muh economy.

[1]: By 2016, China's overall plastic waste production had fallen to 21.60 million tons, a reduction of nearly 28 million tons (for comparison, U.S. production fell less than 4 tons during the same time period). Moreover, despite being one of the largest overall producers of plastic waste, China's per capita production of plastic waste was one of the lowest in the world in 2016 at 15.6 kilograms a year per person.

so, the company was Vastaamo. was because it got bankrupt after the breach, and GDPR violations.

the "hacker"(or rather cracker) was extradited from France to Finland. you can read about how terrible the company's security was here: https://tietosuoja.fi/en/-/administrative-fine-imposed-on-psychotherapy-centre-vastaamo-for-data-protection-violations

    ---

for those who don't get it: Brazilians(maybe other Portuguese speakers too?) use "kkkkkk" or "rsrsrs" in texting to indicate laugh, similar to "haha".

pressing "k" in vim(in normal mode) makes the cursor go one line up. for efficient navigation, a number before a navigation key(h,j,k,l) can be used. e.g.: 10k to go 10 lines up.

also, "relative line numbers" might be a setting you may wish to turn on in case you need to jump several lines up. you can also use Ctrl+d, Ctrl+u(or their full page counterparts Ctrl+f, Ctrl+b for quick navigation, but that's a tip for some other day. :)

as I'm going through the process of learning vim, I'm discovering newfound powers. one of them being to execute commands from vim itself.

below examples might better explain some of them:

    1. want to see what files are in current directory? enter command mode(by typing :) and follow it by a bang(!). then do ls like you'd do in a terminal and press enter. this is not limited to just ls. you can enter any command that you can enter in terminal. for example: :! uname --operating-system (which will output GNU/Linux :))

    2. so you want to quickly save just a certain part of your file into another file? just select everything you need by entering visual mode(v) and do :w filename(actual command you'll see would be '<,'>:w filename). verify it using 1.(i.e., :! cat filename.

    3. want to quickly paste another file into current one? do :r filename. it'll paste its contents below your cursor.

    4. or maybe you want to paste results of a command? do :r !ls *.png.

vim is my ~ sweet ~ now. make it yours too.
