I just browse “All” and I keep getting slapped with “Kamala actually cares about Gaza and understands the complexities of the situation so plz vote plz I beg we need this so bad no don’t go actually look at the ongoing genocide just plz vote” posts

  • Previous elections in the region have been marked by violence, boycotts and vote-rigging. The BJP was able to come to power in a coalition with a local party following the last election in 2014, but the government collapsed in 2018 before statehood was scrapped.

Pro-independence militants have been fighting the central government since 1989. Many Muslim Kashmiris would favor an independent unified territory, or to join Pakistan.

It was pretty bad in 2019, people were pissed that the local government was kneecapped by a nationalist already publicly known for causing a massacre.

They also had a (failed) air skirmish with Pakistan and lost a pilot, which they also permanently nuked the media to cover up.

  • I have been saying ever since last year that Michigan is gonna be red this season and it’s gonna be an election day “surprise” just like with Clinton because surprise surprise the polls and primary predictions were off by a full +5%.

Why in the actual f**** would the region most known for an American Arab population with direct family ties to Gaza and especially Lebanon (every since the 70s) willingly vote for Harris after literally getting to see Biden’s governemnt kill their family members in real time over the course of a year. It is the HQ of the uncommitted movement which was refused any sort of demand for change on Gaza/Israel policy during the DNC rally.

Forget utilitarianism, they didn’t even vote for Hillary because of her antics as Secretary of State under Obama. I’m pretty sure genocide is not a smaller issue.

And that’s just Detroit by itself. Ann Arbor was just a constant 9 months of student protests with police arrests on Umich which is the so called liberal capital campus of the USA.

Even all this UAW and Union shilling isn’t worth jack shit, most of those workers are from Detroit and will happily ignore party leader voting recommendations. It has even been an old recurring joke that every candidate passing though goes directly to one of the big 3 Auto OEMs to get a monkey crowd of factory workers for PR.

Harris can still win without Michigan, but they have already decided that there is no need to focus on the uncommitted vote because they believe they don’t need it, or are willing to actually lose over it.

Hilariously, I do think Whitmer and the state level democrats will do just fine.

  • In Nevada, the Democratic Party initiated a lawsuit to exclude the Green Party from the ballot, claiming the party used the wrong form to collect signatures from voters. The Green Party appealed the case and was represented by Jay Sekulow, an attorney who defended Trump throughout his impeachment trials (last week, the Nevada Supreme Court rejected Stein’s bid to be put back on the ballot).

In Wisconsin, Democratic National Committee employee David Strange sought to remove Stein from the ballot by arguing the Green Party can’t nominate presidential electors without legislative candidates eligible to do so. The Wisconsin Supreme Court declined to hear the case. Stein was again legally represented by a Trump-affiliated lawyer, Michael D. Dean, who was involved in lawsuits that attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, the Journal reported.

    From another article:

The affidavit originally submitted with the Green Party’s petition in July 2023 was the correct one. However, because the petition that the Green Party submitted contained a separate mistake, an employee in the secretary of state’s office sent the party a sample petition that included the wrong affidavit – for use with petitions to put initiatives and referenda on the ballot. As a result, the affidavits that the Green Party later submitted with its petitions did not contain the attestation required for access to the ballot.

The secretary of state eventually announced that the Green Party had submitted enough signatures to qualify for the 2024 general election ballot.

The Nevada Democratic Party went to state court in June of this year, arguing that the signatures were invalid because the Green Party had used the wrong affidavit.

On Aug. 12, the state trial court ruled in favor of the Green Party, but on Sept. 6 a divided Nevada Supreme Court reversed. It concluded that the attestation that the Green Party had failed to include “serves an essential purpose.” Therefore, the majority reasoned, allowing the Green Party to have its candidates on the ballot when it had not fulfilled all of the prerequisites to do so would nullify “the requirements that were put in place for the public’s benefit.”

SCOTUS ruled with the Nevada Supreme Court and chose to keep the Green Party off the ballot. Their only real mistake here was really just some legal red tape filled out incorrectly. It doesn’t really matter if Jill Stein is a terrible candidate or not, the two party system will clearly go to the ends of the earth to kill 3rd parties from every becoming a thing lol. I guess it matters more for democrats since green party would be taking out more of their votes than republicans.

I’ve always said the best type of media on the internet is almost no moderation because that means anyone can post anything.

People who post stupid or nonsensical things would just get ignored anyway, there’s no need for a mod tram to dictate what can and cannot be posted online. They should only exist to remove spam or brigading.

The wild west internet was great at this, we got some of the coolest communities and memes from all over the world.

Right around MySpace falling off, Facebook started agregiously taking over the majority of social media. Lots of forum sites are now dead or empty.

  • I mean India missed some Israeli made glide bombs on Pakistan probably because they don’t have proper access to military GPS or their INS info had deviated, so all 3 bombs hit like 100 yards left of their intended target.

I do find it sort of difficult to believe Iran’s INS technology could be that poor even for ballistic missiles, so I guess it’s possible, especially since both times they made it clear they never attacked US targets nor publicized destruction of some high value assets. Though I feel like Mossad would have figured this out since they seem to have so many informants.

Still it kind of would have been cool to see Israel more exposed to aerial attack with some destroyed aircraft since they otherwise have complete air superiority in the region.
