11 months agoDo you have any idea what bandwidth intensive tasks would your family do during your work hours?
70 Mbps is enough if you are not doing anything else like downloading or streaming at the same time as your work. But if your kids are watching Netflix on 3 different streams, it could hamper the actual bandwidth available to you.
Unless there is a huge price difference or you are moving somewhere where higher speed internet is not feasible, I’d try to maintain at least 150-200 Mbps just to be safe.
The first thing I’d do is to confirm is the router is indeed the issue here. If you still have the original router from Telus, switch to that and do the speed test with a cable. You should get close to 900-950 Mbps (we have 1Gig but get 900-970 on speedtest).
If the Telus modem gives you better speeds, then your modem is the bottleneck.
