A good mesh works fine for most people if you set it up properly
I’ve done this a million times and it’s always worked flawlessly but it all depends on the routers you use and your house layout and materials.
Set up the router close to the computer as a wireless bridge
I know people will shit on me for saying this but setting up an old router (say an Asus ac68u or ac66u) in wireless repeater mode using the 5GHz band for backhaul works wonders when you don’t need super fast speeds. And you should still be able to get fast speeds (though higher latency) in your room.
I’ve done this and can still accomplish up to 300 Mbps with a relatively low latency. It all really depends on the circumstances (and especially the main router)
I’m using for hosting lots of stuff in docker, as well as Plex direct streams. As long as it doesn’t have to transcode much its fine
Don’t need to transcode though. Most devices can directstream completely fine
Well of course enterprises use a wired backhaul due to the sheer number of users and interference, but in most consumer networks and houses a well placed mesh can do wonders
