Just looking through Amazon for replacement paddles for various bread machines. Many, but not all have a picture with some dimensions on it. If you can get some calipers or something to measure yours, perhaps you find something that way.

If you’ve friends with bread machines, ask them if you can try out their paddles to see if they fit.

Your idea of an electronics recycling center could be good too. I honestly haven’t been to one, so I don’t really know what you should expect there.

I assume you, like me, did a search for the replacement part and found it “obsolete” and no longer sold anywhere online.

I am wondering if you could use a mixing paddle from a different machine. There is some variation between them, but at the end of the day, it’s not that complex of a part. Match the shaft size, shape, length, and make sure it fits in the machine.

Maybe they’re hotdogs with a strong sense of justice.

I used to say I was 5’ 15". The number of times people would say “no way, your at least 6 feet” or something similar is amazing.

Instead of adding an account to the device with all of the management software that goes with it, one could use a generic SMTP email client (K-9 Mail?) and still get the email, but not have to worry about the privacy and remote administration concerns.

No, it is not the world I want to live in, but I am not convinced it would be worse than the current world.

There’s a lot of “billionaires shouldn’t exist” and “eat the rich” sentiment out there. I often suggest jokingly that it should be legal to murder someone once they reach a certain level of wealth. It might motivate them to limit their greed at some point, perhaps be less exploitative of those who are working to generate their wealth or share more of it. And even if they pass the threshold, they may give more concern to how they treat people and how they are perceived.

This feels like a relevant situation to bring up one of my favorite Terry Pratchett quotes:

Hmm, onions used to bother me a lot but I haven’t really thought about it in years. Apparently using a sharp knife makes a difference. At some point I got a nice knife set that I have been keeping sharp, and my onion issue disappeared but I didn’t realize until you reminded me.

I live in Boston. I fully agree with you though in this situation the guy wasn’t in the bike lane, he was on the sidewalk.

The biker was on the sidewalk, not on the road, when he got hit, and went flying over the hood of the car.

I don’t know how anyone would be expected to play defense against that situation.

I honestly can’t remember how she looks with makeup on. She has worn it maybe a dozen times in the decade plus that I’ve known her.

She looks fine without it. She seems happy without it. I don’t really care either way.
