Hello!

I’m looking to buy a wireless mesh system. My priority is ultimately download speed over wifi to my devices, so naturally good range is also very important. A little bit of info:

I live in a two-storey, three-bed terrace house in the UK. I have a 1 Gbps connection into my ISP router. The connection is at the back of the house, farthest from where I need it unfortunately. I will likely have four or perhaps five devices connected at most (a laptop + phone each for my wife and me) simultaneously. I don’t need any smart home capabilities whatsoever (no Alexa or similar). I will be connecting one of the nodes to my router via ethernet, and the others will be connected wirelessly.

Is there anything that suggests that I might be making a mistake in going for the M9 Plus? Perhaps there are other brands or systems out there without smart home features, etc. that would be a better option for me.

Budget is £200 max.

Thanks so much in advance.

I have a Deco M9 Plus (3 nodes), 1 node per floor on a 3-floor townhome. Initially, only 1 out of the 2 satellite nodes were connected via ethernet, but I noticed network performance issues on the 3rd node that’s using wifi backhaul, primarily because the distance from the main node to the 3rd node is far, as well as the floors, ceilings, walls and other furniture/interference that’s causing the issues. I don’t know if it may be a problem for you depending on your home’s layout (including the materials used to build your home, i.e., concrete/brick dampens signals way more than dry wall, etc.).

Another thing to consider - M9 Plus is an old model (at least 4+ years old). If you are good with that, then go forth and acquire; otherwise, you may want to take a look at other products.
