I think fans of great teams all feel like their team had missed a few spectacular oppurtunities to win another ucl. Be descriptive on which season and why you think they should have won it. For me its gotta be liverpool 2022, even though we were lucky to get to the final because we played easy teams, I still feel like we failed badly against a wounded Madrid team. I felt like Firminho should have started in the center, but they used Mane instead. That imo was the reason we lost that game. Madrid deserved the win because they went through harder opponents, but within that match itself we had no excuses to lose.

    Man United here.

2003/04 season - Paul Scholes had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the second leg against Porto. If that had stood and we had won that, arguably Monaco were the only other team to fear. As it happens, Porto won, and basically thrust Mourinho on the world.

2012/13 season - Nani should never have been sent off when we were leading at home to Real Madrid. Completely changed the match in an instant. We had a real shot at that UCL that season.

If there’s one team who has bottled most it’s def Juve. 9 finals 2 won. Even in finals where we were clearly the strongest side like Dortmund or Hamburg

As an Arsenal supporter we should have at least one and oddly enough I’m not even necessarily talking about the 2006 final but the Invincibles team should have done better. They absolutely did not perform in the second leg at Highbury against Chelsea in the QF that season

I really can’t get how Mourinho failed to lift CL trophy during Madrid period. That team was excellent, 3 semis in a row. They lost against Bayern in penalties (how often Ronaldo, Kaka and Ramos would miss penalty all together?), against Superb Barca (and Messi) in 2011 and against Lewandowski who scored 4 goals in one game.

Not a Liverpool supporter but you can bet Milan would not have won a single European cup during their “golden” era if the English teams and especially LFC would have been allowed to compete in the late 80s essentially any European cup won in those years is utterly worthless because the best team at the time weren’t allowed to compete (I never understood why they punished the club just because their supporters are idiots it’s not like the team picks the fans)

I’m a Liverpool fan and although I think the '80s Liverpool teams were quite good, English football in general was piss poor during that time.

      Nowhere near that Milan side.

Milan should have had the 1993 one, where the Marseille team was all doped up, and they were later found out to have bribed officials.

And also the 2005 one, if only they had not forgotten to come back for the second half.

But as sci-fi movies taught us, going back changing the past will drastically alter the present and the future.

Had Milan won in 2005, we most likely wouldn’t have the 2007 one.

Or even worse, had they won in 1993, perhaps that could have been their last UCL to this day.

So in the end I’m very happy with whatever we’ve accomplished in this timeline.
