Oh thank god you’re here to tell me.
Seriously do you think I actually care?
Saka? Maybe. Gabi, I don’t think so. The man looks like he could play every day, it’s insane how much energy he has and obviously he’s had a little bit more rest than Saka last weeks due to injury.
Perhaps. If so, we should expect a club statement with further details explaining why the schedule is unfriendly.
The annoying thing about last night was we were begging for Saka to be subbed literally seconds earlier. Both Martinelli and Saka took 6-7 hits last night as Sevilla couldn’t get close. Game was done in the 64th min, Sevilla had offered fuck all, that was when both Martinelli and Saka should have come off.
Supposedly Saka’s injury was just an impact thing so hopefully he just takes a rest for Burnley and the dead rubber England game.
You can see why Mik leaves one on though because we lose all pacey outlets when they both go off. There isn’t enough creativity, especially with no Ode to make use of Nelson in those situations.
You have to leave at least one of them on at 2-0. It only takes one fluke goal and now you’re protecting a 2-1 with Saka off the pitch and unable to affect things.
After the last week you can forgive me for first reading this headline as “Are Arsenal’s whingers being overworked?”
Nah, the Wingers. I thought Saka and Martinelli should be fresh after spending Saturday in Trippier and Tino’s pockets tbh.
Whinging about whinging is hilariously ironic
didnt read it like though did you
Didn’t really need to read it to make a comment about the headline though did I.
Arteta’s mouth certainly is.
Imagine a coach coaching, or a manager managing 🤣
I agree Arsenal Whingers are being overworked
Isn’t that their old manager?
To be honest I do think people were calling for Saka to come off a little too early, though I was concerned he would get injured.
People say the game was over at 2-0 but Arsenal fans who stuck with us during dark days know that 2-0 is good but can still get messy if it gets to 2-1.
City on the other hand usually see 3-0 as game over.
So yea, Saka is overworked, but to be honest he needs to be - did you see our bench last night?
Overworked? Maybe
Not being protected by the refs and getting booted in the legs or shoved to the floor off the ball? Absolutely
In a 10min stint at the beginning of the game I’m pretty sure Saka got fouled 5 times. Somehow wasn’t until after an hour that Saka and Martinelli both finally drew yellow cards from the ref. Must’ve been 12-13 fouls on them two alone last night.
Thank god Saka didnt have to play against Acuña again. Man was aggressive with Saka in the first leg
It was 6 times in the first 17 minutes. Ridiculous. They were taking it in turns.
Welcome to Salah’s world. Frequently fouled and he’s lucky if he gets two free kicks in a game.

Hazard got the same treatment. Apparently, if you’re a talented winger, fouling you is fair game in the Prem 🤷♂️
But he actually got fouls called for him Salah doesn’t
Yeah if you want to talk about ref bias, Liverpool should be getting more calls. They have produced the second most xg to city since klopp has been there. But city gets the most calls and pool is like mid table.
we need a pacy 1v1 merchant who can play on either side…
They have like 50 players who can play on the wing so Arteta will rotate when he thinks it’s necessary.
I never understood the babies who write these articles. All you have to do is look at someone like Cristiano who was getting kicked and pulled and stamped his entire career yet he goes down as one of the greatest in the world and rarely missed matches, He has never had any long term injury.
You literally just picked possibly the greatest footballer in history and said “Why can’t everyone be like that?”
Not the way the manager wants to, similar to how City have England’s starting 6 but don’t play him. Saka and Martinelli are players that can win you games on their own merits and can play within a system.
World class, or border line world class players must play. We wouldn’t be in the position we are without them and if you rest them we’d fall back into the place we where a couple years ago. We’re building something, bringing a player like trossard was some of the smartest transfer business I’ve seen from this club in years that’s the type of signing a man city would do and I’m sure more signing will come in the near future but for now we continue doing what were doing and like many teams we are struggling with injuries but that’s part of the game.
Think you could definitely stand to rotate them more or sub them out earlier. Saka especially seems tired and ineffective in a lot of games this season. I know he doesn’t have a direct replacement but he’s getting run into the ground.
I do understand where you’re coming from though. You need to win every game these days and you need your best players for that. But you also need them in top condition and I don’t think you’re getting the best out of Saka with the way his minutes have been managed so far.
This is where I think City have created an unrealistic standard that just wasn’t there before. They can rotate their world class starters with world class substitutes. Yes we could rotate more to give our world class starters some much needed rest but then the points will inevitably start to dip and you can barely afford to lose 1 point when you’re up against a team like City. They’ve put us in the position of needing Saka and Martinelli to start every game but in my opinion this shouldn’t be the norm and it simply feels unfair sometimes that we face criticism for starting them so much but would also be criticised for losing points from not playing them
We’ve made some shrewd squad signings recently but it still feels like one step forward two steps back when City can just sign players like Doku, Kovacic, Gvaridol for their depth. No doubt we can push them to the end but if we lose out will get called bottlers again despite being up against their monster squad
My only complain about mikel when it comes to this subject is the late subs, the game was won last night and Saka still stayed on after the knock , that needs to change
Saka especially seems tired and ineffective in a lot of games this season.
I’m not sure whether this is tiredness or simply being doubled every single game. Like nobody ever plays 1v1 because they just know it’s not enough. It’s also why we need Martin on that left side, because his goal contributions are often coming from exploiting this and we should continue to do so.
Betteridge’s law (of headlines) is an adage that states “Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no.” The sweeping generalization refers to the poor journalistic practice of writing sensational headlines in the form of a question in order to compensate for the author’s lack of facts.
Jesus I thought this read whingers
