Regarding centre midfield squad building: Jorginho out of contract, and surely time to move Partey on (for what little we’ll get). Elneny too, but not like he has much of a role. I can’t see us buying two midfielders. Douglas Luiz and Patino?

Zubimendi, and integrate Patino. Extend Jorginho for a year. Move on Partey and Elneny. Leaves a pathway for MLS and Nwaneri to play a role over the next few seasons as well. Don’t know what to do about Fabio and ESR, one of them needs to massively step up this year.

Would be daft to move Partey on. I wouldn’t extend him either but selling him just adds unnecessary pressure into his successor.

In terms of names, I’m not sure exactly who. But they need to be Progressive and press resistance as Partey. everything else is secondary.

Luiz is a good player but there are better options in the market. We need ceiling raisers not floor raisers.

I want the truth, is Raya actually better than Ramsdale?

This is situation reminds of when Iker Casillas was dropped for some dude, who wasn’t that good if anyone even remembers that saga.

Think im starting to understand like 20% of how liverpool feel with City, like before Pep the standard to win the league was significantly lower.

Still you had to be the best and peps inclusion probably has lifted klopp and arteta but my god like. Spurs have been undoubetdly the best team in the league, 3 MOTMs in a row, but us, liverpool and City havent even been taht great and we’re still all within 2 points because of the standard. Like 7 wins, 3 draws, a loss and 23 goals in 11 games only gets you 4th. Crazy level

So, I’m not entirely certain about what a false 9 is, but from the way it sounds, could Trossard play as a false 9?

Go easy on me please. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I’m just curious.

That’s one of his best positions. I think he also thinks it.

I like to be in the pocket behind the striker. On the wings, I can explore myself as well. I’m comfortable in either of those positions but if I were to choose, behind the striker - but it all depends on the system. - Trossard.

Don’t task him with leading the line. Put him behind that monolith of a striker to drive won second aerial balls, to shoot or even create. He’s not supposed to be tasked with the defensive work of the typical midfielder.

He’s not playing there consistently because we can’t do it without two defensive-minded midfielders.

Eidevall having to defend himself from the media despite Gareth Taylor literally making accusations out of thin air and not even apologizing is hilarious.

Also these are two middle-aged men acting like children to be honest, the whole thing is insane:

Heh. Sometimes, it’s almost as though they read a copy of “How to be an Arsenal fan for dummies” and then internalised the passage that reads, “Must hate Spurs. Always hate Spurs.”

We’re back to squabbling over strikers because on the whole, we don’t create anywhere near enough.

Man I really hope we win the next 4 games in the league because the games after that are Villa (A), BHA (H) and LIV(A).

How many points do you think we get from the next 7? I won’t mind 4 wins in next 4 and then 4/9 from other 3

Just look up at Fbref to search for Partey replacements (similar profile). Results as follow: Too Old category : William Cavalho / Hojbjerg Unattainable category: Camavinga/ Tchaoumeni Once linked category: Caicedo / Zubimendi Affordable category : A. Valentin Rongier B. Samuel Moutoussamy; both playing in Ligue 1. Rongier has very interesting stats though.

After watching Southgate’s interview about his (lack of) selection and call-up decline of players and hearing his reasoning for wanting Reece James (read: experience) in the squad just made me laugh.

His obsession for this lop-sided inclusion of as many RBs as possible is truly baffling.

“The door is always open” (paraphrasing) or “Who would I leave out?” Two contradictory comments which amount to his squad being a closed shop. No consideration for the potential long layoff of some players or testing out different options to compensate.

His excuse for not including Ben White was absolutely pathetic, just like his other excuses for including - or exclusion - of other players.

Remember when everyone laughed at us for getting Ben White over Varane and how we were a “finished” club. Lmao funny how that went

“Lol Arsenal payed 50m for White while we paid 34m for Varane! >!I’m going to ignore the fact that Varane’s wages are 3 times as much and will have 0 resale value. Not my money!<”

🚨⚪️ Ange Postecoglou on Tottenham injury list.

🇳🇱 “Van de Ven will be out for couple of months, looking to the New Year”.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 “Maddison, it’s a lot worse than we thought. Probably into the New Year”.

🇧🇷 “Richarlison should be out for a month”.

Injuries right at the start of their toughest run too. Bad luck, but it’s what a lot of us were saying, they’ve sailed through with a comically easy fixture list and minimal injuries and the test will be what happens once they hit some harder fixtures and bad luck. Let’s see.

That said Richarlison out for a month hardly affects them
