The player that previously held this record was Lionel Messi who was 25 when he scored his 300th goal, i genuinely think if mbappe doesn’t end up as a top 5 player ever it would be a shame

Ligue 1 Uber Eats…need I say more? He’s a great player no doubt but playing majority of your career in Ligue 1 kinda inflates those stats.

He already overstayed in a mediocre league to become a legend in my opinion. For some reason I don’t see Mbappe getting the most out of his career. He doesn’t seem to be eager enough to do so. My best guess is he’ll probably will be a very good player at most, but never a legend.

Pelé, Puskas and Neymar reached 300 goals even younger than Mbappe (22 years old, 24 years and 21 days old, 24 years and 8 months old)

So OP’s post is a false claim? According to Wikipedia Neymar had 293 goals by the end of the 2017 season, when he was past 25. I don’t think those include club friendlies though, and I’m not sure if Mbappe’s numbers include friendlies either. Either way they both have crazy stats considering they’re not true strikers.

We tend to dis include friendlies, because otherwise we get a repeat of pele (after ronaldo topped his goal scoring record, rip goat). He came out and claimed he had a large amount more due to…well I can’t even remember. But I’ve heard he claimed friendlies count, which seems fine until he was playing in Brazil. Most of us could probably crawl onto one of those pitches, stand at 9 and bury 2 per match

I labelled Brazil (in this response) mostly because I KNOW I can do it against uni teams (pele played a lot of friendlies against high school teams. So the defenders are smaller and slower than me, 19 years old and uni starting striker)

As for city….ok yeah depends on the opposition defence. I’m never getting past VVD, or Varane. But against Southampton or…maybe West Ham? I’d wager I could pop an offside trap and tap one in. If I’m playing off a lump of hair gel, doku, KDB, silva (etc) I’d get enough chances to score at least 1

You are absolutely delusional. I think you have no clue how high the level is these players are playing at. Sure Southamptons or West Hams defenders are weak compared to someone like VVD or Varen, but those guys are still better football players then 99% of the human population, including you .

I genuinely believe almost every single person in this sub wouldn’t even be able to control a ball if someone lik KDB passed it to them.

Even if you would get a 1 on 1 goal chance against a premier league goalkeeper you wouldn’t score.

Nah mate, you just don’t know it all. I was in the West Ham academy until 3 years ago when I dropped out due to mental health issues. I had players like noble and payet calling me out as the next big thing. You saying I can’t beat a prem gk 1v1 when I was beating Fabianski on a weekly basis, is like me saying you can’t think straight

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Haaland and Mbappe replace Messi and Ronaldo as the two 🐐 I mean someone is going to eventually overtake them. Messi and Ronaldo only looked good because the other players weren’t as good.

The reason Haaland and Mbappe don’t stand out as much is because everyone is better and closer to the field. Footballers are better now, it’s evolution. Messi and Ronaldo set the bar and now younger players inspire to be better than them. Messi and Ronaldo will be considered average players by 2070 and the media will be saying things like they played against cab drivers and plumbers like we say with Maradona and Pele because football has evolved since then and it will continue to evolve.

I don’t think Mbappe or Haaland will be held in the same regard as Messi and Ronaldo. Brilliant as they are, they lack that - idk, creativity? Magic? Ability to absolutely wow you? They’re elite at what they do but we know what they’re going to do and they do it. Messi and Ronaldo were bewitching.

i believe it is because defenders have gotten so much better, and pressure tactics are so optimised, that being a ‘magical’ player is far harder. teams nowadays crave possession and players are instructed to pass more than take on 1v1s

He plays for PSG in a league nowhere near at his level.

He’s bound to score bucketloads of goals.

1 Mbappe goal does not equal 1 Messi goal…or even a Haaland or Salah goal.
