    The one that springs to mind is Dusan Tadic for Ajax against Real Madrid in the CL. This might be recency bias because of all the clips of him on his birthday, but my god he was the definition of unplayable that game.

      This one sticks out to me because in almost all these other examples, you have guys like Messi, Neymar, CR7, Zidane, etc, all-time greats who you would expect to put in such a performance. Tadić was a good player, sometimes great, sometimes not great, usually always solid, but still definitely not a player you’d put in any GOAT lists. Yet on that night, against Real Madrid of all teams, he was so incredible that it’s almost weird. It was a game Messi would have been proud of, and it was done by Dušan Tadić like he’d never done before or since.

      Tbf Real Madrid was awful that season. They lost more games in the league in 18/19, than they did in the next three seasons combined. Surely Tadic and Ajax were good, but it was more of an awful Madrid side ready to collapse at any moment.
