Its been several years since the horrible update that now notifies the user that Secure Folder is locked when booting up. Why do they not remove it after so many dislike it!
I’m on a tab s7 plus and it doesn’t give me the notification. Haven’t tried on my tab s9u though.
Hahaha yeah this is exactly why I don’t use secure folder. OneDrive has a better version anyway.
Yeah, this has always confused and annoyed me. Mostly defeats the object of the feature
It really doesn’t. Secure folder is a secure folder with a lock, it’s not a hidden folder.
It’s more than that. It creates separate instances of apps. So you can have two accounts on your phone for the one app at the same time. It’s the most useful feature imo.
The point was, it is not designed to be a secret, but a protected folder.
Glad I don’t have a use for this (like most things extra on Oneui. It also makes my A53 run without stuttering)
Yes, but that’s irrelevant. It’s a secure folder, not a hidden folder.
Not really correct. They allow you to change the name and icon for the app in order to hide it. There is also an option to not show the app in the launcher. This notification completely nullifies that. It’s so stupid.
I don’t even understand the point of the notification. Do they think I am going to forget I installed it?
No it’s correct, it’s secure folder, not hidden folder. You can change the app and and disguise the app regardless of secure folder. Secure folder is just a second set of apps to have two logins at once, or to secure apps accounts documents e.t.c
I feel like you’re splitting hairs just to argue. But carry on.
MY Flip5 doesn’t seem to do it I just realized
I’d want it to be removed too. You can hide what it says though, long press it and go to settings and on lock screen settings change it to hide content. Doesn’t do much, but change what it is specifically showing up for, it just says “Android System” instead of Secure Folder. Makes it thinner too.
Either way, I’d like for it to just not show up at all…
Can you please share a screenshot or few more steps? What I did is unlocked Secure Folder after booting my phone, then long pressed on it, App info and then settings, unable to figure out the next step.
Drop down you notifications, then long press the Secure Folder notification.
Three options should pop up: “Turn off Notifications” (does not work, it’s grayed out) “Settings” “Done”
Press on “Settings” and it should open the App Notification Settings for “Android System”
You should see a few options, look for “Notification types.”
Make sure “Lock Screen” is Allowed, you should have it on by default.
There should be an option that says “Lock screen notifications,” it should say “Show content” by default.
Press that and it should give you the two option: “Show content” (should be checked by default) “Hide content”
Press “Hide content” and it should hide it everywhere, not just the lock screen.
It’s not gonna go away, but it hides what the notification is for, it should just say “Android System” and it should be a thinner notification too.
Hope this helps! 😁
Thanks for the detailed steps mate 😊
Yeah, no problem 👍
I’m going to try this. Thank you
Yeah, no problem 👍👍
Yeah it’s really silly… you can only try and uninstall or disable as many unused secure folder apps as possible…
pretty sure you can disable secure folder entirely
I think the OP wants to keep the functionality but get rid of the notifications
Secure folder is the only thing I truly loved about Samsung which I miss on other phones. I mean I hate the galaxy app store notification which pops up randomly rather than secure folder one which pops up only when I boot.
Hold on…you guys don’t disable the notification for it?
There is no way to do it for Secure Folder only.
I mostly just put it on silent…but I guess I forgot you can’t…
I don’t understand how the secure folder even pops up like that. Nothing says hidden secure folder like a pop up alerting you that it’s there.
Secure folder is a secure folder, it locks anything you want away. It’s not a hidden folder
I asked a support rep. He told me the solution was to delete everything and stop using the secure folder. I said “but I have some secure content”. He said “I’m so sorry…” and ended the support chat.
Bizarre experience but now I totally understand why he did that. This is such a weird hill for Samsung to die on. They literally refined Android Desktop into DeX before they’d consider hiding an always-on notification which defeats the whole purpose of the product.
It’s honestly stupid that you even wasted your time contacting them over that. You can’t expect some Indian to actually know how to remove that. It doesn’t defeat the purpose of anything, it’s a secure folder not a hidden folder.
😂 that’s hilarious. I was in the beta program and it was wild how many features they left hanging and rushed launching one ui 6.0
Already the case on one ui 5.0
