Disagree. Ramsdale wants the position back, which means he needs to prove to Arteta that he can play the way he wants, and well. Just doing the simple stuff wouldn’t help him regain his spot.
Goalkeepers can’t really choose to do more or less, it’s not like a winger where you can try to impress, at best as a GK you can hope to have a quiet game.

Sure. But point is he had to try and delay the passing to invite the press (as Arteta wants). He got it wrong, but I don’t think it would benefit his chances if he just did everything simple.

yes this is EXACTLY what Schmeichel mentioned about having 2 no.1 situation at Arsenal. I forgot the link, but basically he was saying that GKs should be having a stable and focused mindset, instead of trying to outdo each other and do extra things they are not really comfortable with
