This is such a tough question but the first person who came to mind was Maldini. Defenders are almost never talked abt in goat debates but for me he was the greatest defender ever and if Cristiano and Pele etc didn’t exist, then I would prob say him. I am a little bias as I am a defender but he deserves the respect his defending was elegant
Yeah I think about that aspect of the question too. It’s fair enough to go “best ever” in each area from GK to strikers. I agree Maldini was a force of nature.
