I have an ethernet/PoE question.
I currently have a CAT6 ethernet cable ran from my IT closet to a corner of my house. It is has a Swann security camera connected on one end and the other is connected to the Swann system. I am wanting to install an outdoor wifi booster (TP Link) that is PoE as well as keep the Swann security camera, but I only have the one ethernet cable so I need to split it.
This is the setup I’d like to verify will work. 1- A PoE switch in my IT closet with a cable from my router to the INPUT and then 1 output port going to the Swann system and another output port with my previous installed cable that runs within the walls to the corner of my house. 2 - at the corner of my house, outside, I would have the cable coming from the inside PoE switch going IN to a 1 in 2 out PoE Repeater. 3 - One of the outputs on the 1 in 2 out PoE repeater would go to the TP Link wifi booster device and the other to the Swann security camera. Would this work? TYIA
It might, depending on your PoE switch’s power, and your 1=>2 extender. You should try to get a “gigabit” poe extender, which are almost double the cost of a 100mbps poe extender.
