Who is the biggest “what if” player of all time? What I mean by this is a player who could’ve had a dramatically different or better career if he had chose a different option.

One of my picks is Neymar. What if he stayed at Barcelona?

    Here’s some I haven’t seen commented yet/as much:

Reus, Oscar, Gabri Veiga (he could still come back), Götze, Badstüber - and, even though he’s been commented a bit, Adriano

Honestly, I reckon Götze is more than happy with his career having scored the goal to win his country the World Cup.

He’s been plagued by injuries and probably shouldn’t have left Dortmund the first time around, but I doubt he’s feeling much regret.

Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate. I reckon if they were both injury free, they would have been better than Rio Ferdinand and John Terry.

Ronaldo without the knee injuries. Yes he had a great career, but he was in his early 20s when he got crocked and took a long time to recover, never quite getting it all back. He also seems like a lovely guy so it would have been nice to see him reach his true potential

Not one player, but a team. What if the Ajax players from the 2002-2005 era stayed at Ajax longer. Could they have won another Champions League:

    GK: Bogdan Lobont
    DR: Hatem Trabelsi
    DC: Julien Escude
    DC: Zdenek Grygera
    DC: Christian Chivu
    DC: Tomas Galasek
    DL: Maxwell
    DL: Urby Emanuelson
    MC: Richard Witschge
    MC: Jari Litmanen
    MC: Wesley Sneijder
    MC: Rafael van der Vaart
    MC: Nigel de Jong
    MC: Steven Pienaar
    RW: Andy van der Meyde
    SC: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    SC: Ryan Babel

Royston Drenthe. Could’ve replace Gio as the best Dutch wingback ever if he’d been responsible with his career and focused on that position instead of trying to be a winger. Man was so talented.
