With the bad relationship between the west and Russia, I was wondering how easily you could travel to Russia, and how your own western country or Russia will make it hard to enter.

You can go through China or another country that hasn’t closed its border to Russia. I don’t think Russia would cause you trouble on account of where your passport was issued, but if they stamp your passport, you might get in trouble in your home country. You can always ask them to stamp a piece of paper instead of your passport (that’s how Americans travel to Cuba).

Idk if that would fly with Russian customs control

Then you can lose your passport when you leave the plane. Your identity card will get you into your own country.
