It’s 2023 and even after 300 million copies sold, Mojang still doesn’t have the resources to do more than one new mob every year.
sigh
Guess we better send them more money! They’re adding more mobs than just the mob vote mobs though. The next update has at least another hostile mob with a unique structure and new blocks and mechanics. And they don’t want to overcrowd the game with just a lot of mobs because they want to support the game for 50 years. If they add twenty mobs a year the game is going to be oversaturated very quickly. They want to add mobs that tie into the game’s systems in unique ways instead of just churning out mobs.
Accusing Mojang of greed is so fucking weird, Java Edition - the one that Mojang develops - is a one-time purchase with non-conditional lifetime updates. I bought the game for €5, 13 years ago(!) and they’re still updating it.
I appreciate your reasonable arguments. I’m well aware of them. But it sounded silly (but reasonable) back when it was still a beta. And it still sounds silly.
I have no clue what the mobs do but penguin would’ve been cute
Crab enabled extended reach for the player. Armadillo drops scutes that can make armour for your dog’s. Penguins made your boats faster.
This is a perfect example of a rigged vote. Of course everyone would pick the cute crab. That’s why I didn’t vote.
…The armadillo won
No one voted the crab because it was cute they voted it because it gives extra reach
