It would be more interesting as a percentage of attendance vs max capacity.
This way, it’s just big teams with bigger stadia. There’s going to be “smaller” teams with max capacity every match that don’t get the credit because they just have less seats.
Same situation with Shearer.
Horrible injury that forced him to change his playstyle, and yet he was still insanely effective.
That’s not to mention that most of his career was with Newcastle, where it was only a competitive team for like 4 years of that time, with the rest being a middling prem side. His physicality and knack for finding the perfect position, his pace pre-injury, and being one of the best strikers of a ball in history would stand out even now when physical strikers aren’t as prominent.
To have the numbers he had during that time, with the injuries he had, and not playing for a top team for the vast majority of it (a couple seasons with Newcastle, and 1 with Blackburn), I can’t imagine how much more he’d have scored if he had accepted an offer from a more competitive side and hadn’t had that injury, AND was playing in the modern era with better tactics and sports science knowledge to protect players.
Its the same with us and the UCL.

Errrr you realise the discussion on Havertz isn’t about whether it’s a foul or not, it’s about how dangerous the tackle was, right?
He jumped into it, studs up, caught longstaff halfway up the shin with his leading leg, then caught him again with his trailing leg. Its so dangerous because it was CMs away from a leg breaker, and Havertz was completely unable to control his momentum when he jumped into it.
If Havertz completely missed (albeit close to longstaff), it could still be a dangerous tackle that should be a red because of the level of danger. You don’t get away with it just because your opponent largely avoids the contact.
Because the benefit of the doubt is supposed to go with the attacker, as in “its a goal unless you can find conclusive/undisputable reasoning not to allow it”.
I dunno which goal you’re referring to, but if its like you said, it sounds more like they fucked up there than with this decision.
I still feel he’ll be massive next season, but it’s hit us like a freight train this season. So much money and we got like 8 games.
