Haaland is still young but I think he can do much more against big teams, last season in the 5 most important matches for city, he didn’t do anything ( 2 semi vs madrid, final against inter, final cup, arsenal second game)

Also I will say Messi after 2015 was not the big game player he was before even if of course Messi in a big game player but 2016-21 he was not that clutch, he even go 9 matchs against real without a goal or assist. Compares to Messi 2009-12 where he was doing masterclass after masterclass in champions league and Classico, he had period of 5 years where he had not that much of big games performances appart of the one against Madrid in 2017 and Liverpool in 2019, but even those games were useless.

He had like 30+kg but managed to loose 20 or 25 I think

Because Barcelona wins champions league only when they are in the dominant era (ex: 1 with the dream team, 1 with Ronaldinho , 2 with guardiola and 1 with the msn) while Real Madrid is also capable of winning the champions league where they are not the best team ex( 98, 2000,2016,22) .

Barcelona priorities winning la liga and beat Real Madrid while real prioritises the champions league. The champions league is about winning against the best teams while la liga is about consistency.

People saying that it is because you can’t reach the level of Messi he is an alien but you can reach the level of Ronaldo that’s why they look up to him are wrong. They just look up for Ronaldo more because they prefer his playing style with all the skills, the style ( the mercurial, the number 7, the haircut…), His personality … When I was younger , they was a tone of guys who loved Ronaldo and also plenty who doesn’t like him, but for Messi the majority likes him as a player but not really because of the personality. That’s why a lot of old folks prefer maradona to Messi with a similarly play style, but with more flair and charisma.

Appart d’or what’s already said,

Ronaldo was super entertaining with all the skills and tricks compares to Messi, and when you are young that’s something you like

but I also think the charisma, attitude, personality, leadership and mentality makes the difference.

None of the ballon d’or winners are undeserved, but some years maybe 1 or two guys was better but not everybody will agree so
