I normally see the likes of Ronaldo, 2013 or Andriy Shevchenko, 2004 are rated as the most underdeserving Ballon dor winners.
Messi 2010 , 2021 , 2023
From the options given by the op on the post, it is a bit clear what he is expecting to hear / guiding people to say 😋.
Nedved in 2003. Still have no idea how he won it over Henry
Messi 2010, 2021 and 2023.
Messi this year
Ronaldo 2013
He won nothing with Madrid to that season and won the award over Ribery and Messi
His stats were outrageous that year. The same could be said for Messi 2010
Nedved 2003. Thierry Henry got robbed.
Messi, this year.
Modric.
Very unpopular opinion but Benzema last year, he did not ‘carry’ real madrid, yes he was topscorer in ucl and got a lot of goals in all competitions but his performances imo weren’t enough for ballon d’or. Not even best of his team that year.
And honarable mention is modric, croatia had a very good squad full of talented players, and same with madrid. He didn’t carry either of his team, he is a world class player but again not enough for a ballon d’or.
And no I don’t hate madrid, just don’t think these 2 deserved best player of the year.
I won’t say who I wanted to win those years because it is clearly personal bias.
Downplaying 10 goals in 5 games against PSG, Chelsea and City eh?
The 2 pens against city and chelsea and psg weren’t very good… Also not saying he was bad just saying he wasn’t ‘the best’ that year
Messi definitely didn’t deserve all of them. Most, yes, definitely not all.
Cannavaro 06, never been the best defender in the world. Got it just because ZiZu head-butted a dude. If ZiZu couldn’t get it, Buffon deserved it more than Cannavaro.
Cannavaro was top class. This is a hot take. I’m glad a defender one it - the award is so skewed towards attacking players.
Well zizous headbutt it was quite costly and I’m sure it didn’t help that the voters are journalists
Was Van Dijk the best defender in the world before 2019?
Ronaldo 2016
Same as last week when this got asked, and the week before, and the week before that.
