  • Emery is a good manager, and Villa have developed a great squad. I was expecting them to win yesterday, especially as Spurs have a backline that is as reliable as a 1980s Lada with Romero and Van der Ven out. , alongside a host of other injuries.

VAR outage also played a hand as Gil was elbowed by Carlos, and the ref bottled sending off Cash for his challenge on Bentancur. That said, Villa took their chances well and that’s what counts at the end.

  • Any team in the PL would struggle with the volume of players that Spurs are missing. It’s a clear indicator that the rebuild is not over and needs to keep pace in January. Most Spurs fans are pragmatic and are accepting that this is part of the process - I’ve never seen the anti-Spurs hysteria from other clubs as much as in this season.

The fact that they are committed, playing good football and only just coming up short is a testament to the change in attitudes at the club. I remember when we’d give up before the first whistle and get turned over by 5 goals.

  • Goalkeeper timewasting to be penalised with an indirect free kick and a yellow card. Sick of goalies stringing out kicks.

Unintentional handball in the box to be an indirect free kick to reduce some of the blatant gamesmanship

Managers leaving the technical area (Arteta/Klopp especially) to be sent off

Kick ins/ quick throw to self as an option if ball goes out in your half

These are fairly sensible, but I do have a ridiculous idea.

In case of red card, the opponent’s have a choice of sending off the player, or adding a player from their bench to be 12 Vs 11 for example.
