The rhythm of the season just get’s broken up some how. My Saturday habits are put on hold for national glory(\s). Maybe watching a game, following the goal reports, he soothing monotony of Final Score, Match of the Day …all just gone.
Surely it is one of the levelers of the game. If you are a big enough club to have international class players, in the past you had to accept that those players would be missing for part of the season. You have a big enough squad, manage around it. Chance for the lower reaches of the table to make up some ground. Chance for some youngsters to get first team experience.
I’m all out of sorts and I couldn’t figure out why. It’s because of the international break disrupting my routine.
Never now watch any of them unless it’s a crucial qualifier. So many pointless games
Nations League is a waste of my time but World Cup qualifying is an absolute joy to watch. I regularly watch COMNEBOL, and the entertainment value alone is second to none.
You crazy
Give over.
They should just have one break a season where all the qualifiers are played, their at the end or around the same time as AFCON
Surely it is one of the levelers….
You mean like Mark Chadwick?
I know there is much more things to worry about in life, but I do agree with the OP. Feels your full weekend is different. I know people will say there is more to more life than football and the likes which I know there is, but for a few hours on a Saturday and Sunday this is a big part of peoples lives and everything just feels off. A normal weekend during the season would have a few early games on, then the 3pm coupon, then the late ko with multiple games on later in all the big leagues. Plus the fact if you bet you just still fling money on any league which is still going in hope. Genuinely no need to reply saying if football is your life you need to open your mind and stuff please. Just my thoughts.
If you enjoy passionate football, watch some of the South America qualifiers.
Am I the only one who likes to see their national team play. For me thats not a break its an event. But I also understand the other Arguments
I care far more about national teams than I could ever care about a club.
I have felt like this for many years. Especially since my country is terrible, Norway. Our game on sunday is just pointless and boring.
It’s always a downer. I just saw that Bellingham is 20 and has already had nearly 30 caps! Far too many games.
The level of International teams is clearly lower than the level in clubs. Of course, you have to compare what’s comparable: Man City will beat Argentina 9/10 times if the match was hypothetically to be played. And you can also see that the best performing national teams are the ones that have the backbone of the team playing together in clubs (Italy/juve 2006, Germany/Bayern 2014,…). So yeah, a part of being patriotic ( which is not watching football for football) and some games that can be interesting at quarter/ semi finals in a world cup, or Europe cup, it’s really not worthy to watch to be honest and a waste of time.
Yep. Watched Arse vs France in 89.

Yeah it is shit but I just think of it as time for players to rest and there’s no football on tv that I want to watch. So a free weekend I guess
It is the interlull
Yawn
I guess we could waste our time on Reddit instead :-)
This is what football manager’s for
