Norway had several chances of qualifying for the Euros but they never lived up to their expectations. Haaland is the best striker in the world and Odegaard is a top midfielder and captain, for both the national team and one of the best teams in the Premier League. Norway is still managing to feed Haaland, with an insane 27 goals. What gives, terrible tactics or synergy issues?

Norway were 1-0 up against Scotland and needed a win. The manager subbed off Halaand, Scotland scored twice, and now Norway are eliminated.

    Bad manager is the problem

Subbing off Haaland wasn’t the problem there. Norway wasn’t trying to score another goal. The problem was taking off Patrick Berg and Fredrik Aursnes. Norway plays 4-3-3 with Berg and Aursnes being 2 of the 3 midfielders. So Solbakken basically removed the midfield and put on 2 players that don’t have any defensive qualities.

They’d already dropped 5 points in their 1st 2 matches, whilst Scotland had 2 wins. Even if Norway had held on for victory, Scotland would still have been in the driving seat.

To be fair, Halaand scored a penalty that was very, very soft and he wasn’t in the game much.

not only is he much better than solbakken, anyone capable of getting that manchester united team to do anything is more than good enough.

ole has a much worse rep than is justified. if ralf rangnick can do worse and manage a better national team, surely ole is good enough for norway

People forget Ole managed to beat Pep 4 times in 8 matches making it 4-3 for Ole. He also finished second with that Manchester United team and had the best away record I believe. Managed to beat PSG in the Champions league but unfortunately lost to Messi’s Barcelona in the next round.

He’s not the best manager but he’s decent.

This seems to suggest that not having Haaland on the pitch is the only issue. It’s not that simple.

It’s a big part of the issue. We basically bottled qualifying in our first two games, and that was probably due to Haaland not playing.

I mean, to OP’s point, if a team is that reliant on one single player (especially one who’s had injury issues in the past), then them missing out on the Euros isn’t that surprising.
