I mean, to OP’s point, if a team is that reliant on one single player (especially one who’s had injury issues in the past), then them missing out on the Euros isn’t that surprising.
This seems to suggest that not having Haaland on the pitch is the only issue. It’s not that simple.
Worth mentioning that Villarreal also had their own bottlejob. Before that they weren’t far away from being finalists themselves.
Definitely. They’d be asking for £35mil minimum if someone went for him, IMO.
He’s served Bournemouth pretty well, I’d imagine they don’t regret that transfer at all.
FWIW Solanke did have appearances for Liverpool, he played 27 games, and scored 1 goal (in a meaningless game IIRC).
Julian Faubert to Real Madrid tops it.
I’d say he’s more box to box, but yeah his best attributes are definitely on his attacking side
Barnes is one of the most influential black footballers of all time, if nothing else. Rush is Liverpool’s all time top scorer, Dalglish is a legend outside of football for his Hillsborough work and Souness is Britain’s greatest ever midfielder. If you haven’t heard of them then you need to brush up on your football history, or you’re just ignorant.
Vieira should already be in ahead of Lampard. Not an out and out DM, but he’d definitely do the job.
Not sure when that was but even if we say last 20 years or so, off the top of my head Suarez does 100% and probably Alisson. There’s arguments for Van Dijk, Salah and Gerrard.
The fact that you say “Slippy G” says it all. Your opinion is irrelevant.
I’m not sure where the “bigger legends” thing is coming from. Souness, Dalglish, Rush, Barnes, Hansen and Keegan are some of the best players to ever play in England.
Then there’s the semi-recent players like Gerrard, Carragher, Owen, Fowler, Suarez and Alonso who were all great players. Even more recent there’s Mane, Firmino and Coutinho who are some of the best to play in the Premier League. Currently there’s Alisson, Van Dijk and Salah who are all time greats.
I’m sure you could do a similar list for Milan and I’m not saying Liverpool’s legends are definitely “better”, but I don’t think the conversation can just be brushed under the carpet.
Nah he’s Joseph Smith
Nah he’s Joseph Smith
Different transfer strategy. Most clubs don’t want to be paying the wages Madrid are for players that may or may not work out.
Liverpool’s strategy for example is generally to try to find underpriced rising players like Konate, Gakpo, Mac Allister, and previously Salah, Wijnaldum, Robertson etc. They’re players who aren’t demanding massive wages straight away - if they go onto earn them, great. If they don’t set the world alight, they should still be solid players who aren’t overpaid.
