In your opinion, what are some of the greatest giant-killings in football? I’d be much more interested in any answers that don’t revolve around the FA Cup!

    Celtic 2 - Barcelona 1

When you look at the stats, we had no right winning that game. 14 attempts on goal (plus 10 off target) compared to 4. 73% possession compared to 27%. Messio, Sanchez, Iniesta, Song, Xavi, Alba, Mascherano, and Alves (not to mention Fabregas and Pique coming off the bench) against Miku, Samaras, Commons, Wanyama, EFE FUCKIN AMBROSE, and Fraser Forster.

That match took at least 5 years off of my life but it was worth it.

I saw a Messi interview recently of him talking about Forster. They called him the wall and they couldn’t understand how he wasn’t England’s number 1

Celtic are former European champions, earn 80 mil in revenue and have 65,000 fans - and can’t even come close to having Dundee United’s record vs Barca.

If you want to include Celtic in a giant killing - then it’s with Clyde, Partick, Morton, Inverness, Airdrie or Bratislava.

With Aberdeen vs Darvel and Rangers vs Berwick ot Hamilton also in the mix

Think the giant killing comes from the fact this was arguably the greatest club side ever assembled whilst Celtic were in the midst of Peter Lawell’s second brutal downsizing exercise.

Agree it’s not worthy of the giant killing title in comparison to others mentioned here but look at the Celtic team, highlighted by a teenage Watt having barely kicked a ball in his career, and look at the Barcelona team.

Can’t gauge market value as so much of that Barca team weren’t bought, but Messi, Iniesta, Puyol, Xavi, Busquets, Alba, Villa, Sanchez, Pique, Fabregas all in smack bang in their prime - pitted against Kelvin Wilson, Michu, Efe Ambrose, Tony Watt, Adam Mathews etc.

        Absolutely fucking wild result.
