I think he is very talented in terms of dribbling and ball control but in recent times whenever former footballers are asked about future balon d or contenders, his name is always mentioned but he is 23 years of age now and still he is not a starter for man City ,his best position is up for debate(rw or advanced 8)and while he has put in some good performances for city I have not seen enough from him to say he will be a future balon d or contender consistently. He seems like Bernardo Silva level player to me which is a very good player but not a balon d or contender(consistently) player. He also resembles him in style quite a bit.

As a Utd fan I think he is absolutely class. He would do better numbers if went to a team that played more direct football and he could be the main man.

what is this myth that foden doesn’t get playing time? he has started 10/12 games for us.

and the fact that you’re just brushing Bernardo Silva off as if he isn’t one of the best midfielders in the world tells me all i need to know

I’m a red and I would love for those two fuckers to be in our squad. Think an issue for foden, which isn’t really an issue and admittedly I don’t watch city every week so could be wrong, is that I can’t say what his best position is. What do you lot think of it?

It’s not a bad point as he’s a bit of a Milner (not a direct comparison, just as a City player who seems somewhat positionally homeless). For some reason, Guardiola plays him on the left instead of on the right; typically, Pep would place him where he could cut in and shoot on his stronger foot. But not with Phil (as with Jesus).

I think the main issue is that his best position is in conflict with the best player in the world at that position. In the games this season where he plays that KDB role of a free roaming tempo setter, he does phenomenal.

He is starting from this season but would you call him undroppable in the same sense Bernardo/dias/rodri/kdb/Halaand are? None would bat an eye if he did not play against liverpool for a tactical reason. Bernardo is one of the best midfielders,i literally called him very good in my post but a lot of players are very good and never even sniff the balon d or.

I don’t think he is overrated in the rest of the world. I think he is an amazing player that gets the attention he deserves. He is pretty good. Maybe british media is hyping him up more than needed but that happens with most players. For example, Endrick. Is he really good? Yes. Is he hyped up more than he deserves by brazilians? OF COURSE! It’s only normal.

He could definitely be a balon dor contender… I think if the team was built around him like ot was for messi we’d see a different animal altogether bit sometimes I feel pep has the reigns on him and has him playing to help the team more so than the team helping get the most out of him as it was at barca

Nah not messi levels, still world’s apart but i feel if he had abit more freedom in his game he’d be right up there contending with the best and I the mix for future balon dor

Do you really watch city games or you just ride on whatever you see on Twitter or reddit?? Foden started last season well, was a constant starter till he had an injury and had his appendix removed, the current lineup was already in sync so he couldn’t start… He’s played more minutes than any outfield player this season so how’s he still a bench player

No. In fact I think he’s a bit restricted under pep and in a different team where he’s given full freedom he’d be top 10 player ITW

He’s getting underrated. Not sure where all this negativity is coming from and I dislike Man City as much as the next guy.

It’s because he is English and the English/ Premier League dominate English-language-speaking football forums/ TV commentary.

I don’t watch many city games, but when I do watch he never shows much.

Token English kid with a decent dribble.
