My last phone was a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and mostly everything was what I wanted except 3 gripes that bothered me quite a bit
- Ads in Samsung apps I remember seeing ads every time I opened Samsung pay and some other apps that I don’t remember anymore. It just seemed bizarre that would be ads in their own apps.
- Poor standby time The phone would drain quite noticeably when it wasn’t snt in use and almost felt like the phone would last about the same time irregardless of whether I heavily used the phone or I left it alone.
- Camera shutter lag This was quite infuriating. There was a noticeable lag from the time I pressed the shutter button to the actual photo being captured leading to blurry images.
I was wondering if these things have been addressed in the newest generation of Samsung flagship phones. I’ve been considering switching to the S24 from an iPhone 13 Pro sometime next year.
Ads are still there, Samsung removed it from some apps such as weather, Samsung Music but they are still there in other places, stand by time is still there, not too bad on s23 ultra, shutter lag is still there, improved a little but it’s there, hopefully it improves on s24 ultra which is coming in January. I would wait for that before switching
I see. Thank you for your input. I’m surprised all those things are still there…Although I do miss the expansive screen and the software that takes advantage of that space
There’s a new setting where you can prioritize capture speed vs optimization. If you put quality optimisation at minimum, the shutter lag is gone.
I see. Is there a noticeable difference in picture quality for someone who isn’t a camera expert by any means nor have multiple camera systems to compare with
I tried at night and it was fine I didn’t notice anything worse.
