In April 2020, Harrelson made a post on Instagram promoting the conspiracy theory that claims a link between 5G networks and COVID-19, which was later deleted.[58] In May 2022, Harrelson said he “doesn’t believe in the germ theory” and found the use of face masks as a preventative measure against COVID-19 to be “absurd”, adding, “I’m sick of like, you’re wearing a mask, and you think it contains your breath—but if it did you’d die, you’d be breathing in your own carbon monoxide [sic].”
Yeah, or at least about 20% of the people I used to be in contact with before I realized I’m much better off jettisoning them before I (or they…) do something irreparable
I’m not cishet, and after I got told by a “moderate conservative” (according to his own definition and his voting preferences, anyhow) acquaintance that he thinks the world would be a better place if gender minorities didn’t exist, and that we’re all pretending anyhow, I realized that my life is going to be better without any sort of contact with his kind. Too many of them are either quietly or overtly literally dreaming of genocide

JFC. How do these people believe this when it’s so easily disprovable! Just last month I put a mask on when I got to the airport for a 14 hour flight to Europe, and didn’t take it off until I was waiting for my friend to pick me up at the other end of the journey. Also slept through half the flight with the mask on.
I’m still alive.
edit: Hilariously I didn’t even realize until just now that he said carbon monoxide not carbon dioxide. What a moron.
I mean, his argument is technically right, you would die if the mask was completely hermetic, it just completely misses the point that masks aren’t there to “contain your breath” but to catch particulates.

Sounds like about 20% of everyone I know, nowadays!

I just nod and fake-smile a lot more.
I just re-heard the “kitty litter for the furries” tale for the hundredth time (gotta be 5-6 years now, and EVERYONE can google!), yet here we are.

Well that’s, something. People who clearly don’t know anything about science probably shouldn’t talk about it.
“5g causes covid”, “I don’t believe in germ theory”. Pick one.
I feel like that’s just background levels of crazy these days.
