Yes and No.

He was individually a huge success, Ronaldo put up some mad numbers and got them some wins that Juventus team had 0 bussiness winning.

However, the financial implications of his transfer were absolutely disastrous. Juve essentially spent 100m + 30m per year on Ronaldo instead of rejuvenating the entire sqaud which needed a rebuild very badly. They also got nothing back as Ronaldo left in free agency.

Honestly, his La Liga stuff is fine, sure its not how Barca fans want to see the team play but long gone are the days of Barca having the elite of the elite and the positions in which they are amazing, like Central midfield Pedri and De Jong are constantly injured. Him not playing ultra attacking and beautiful football isnt an issue.

The problem is, Barca have been so shocking in Europe under him.

holistic view

Haaland had more goals, thats literally it. Unless Haaland massively improves, he wont even be better than Messi’s shadow.

Because for the last 15 years we have seen 2 players play at a much much higher level than this. Haaland isnt new, hes just an inferior scorer than Messi and Ronaldo. As unfair as it is, at least for a while, the new top player will have to deal with those comparisons.

Now if you say club football has more number of competitions, so it should be given 80% weight, that’s where I disagree with you.

Even if this was the case it wouldnt matter since Messi and Lewa didnt win any important titles with their club team anyways.

Aside from the the fact Messi was brilliant in the WC one, did you not see how Dibu stopped several great chances by Brazil? Di Maria was not the only player who showed up, he was really good and one of our best players in both finals but not the best.
