Old Billy Carp has a post about how we set up against Man City in the shield and Prem this season involved both full backs pushing up high in build up. He specifically mentioned how he’d like to see a really attacking fullback come if we are to use that system more often

Feels like we’re set up to have a great season in the champions league this year. Our defence is monstrous and we don’t seem to have the scoring issues we do in the league. Even someone we accept as never going to be a 20 goals a season striker like Jesus is prolific in Europe.

Plus teams actually have a go at us rather than go for a deep block and double up on our wingers.

Yeah your midfields gelled nicely. Looks on defensively suss on paper but never works out that way in reality.

If he’s going to be starting every game then fuck it and do it. He’s so talented but played very little senior minutes in his career. Let him go play consistently and develop into the monster we know he can be

I’d say Saliba, rice, Saka and probobly Ødegard are all pretty much impossible to upgrade on.

What position do you think will be the next big upgrade for us? Long term I would love to find a truly special Keeper to complete our spine but not going to happen anytime soon for obvious reasons.

I suppose centre forward is the only obvious option but not convinced there is anyone in football that would be a Rice/Saliba level upgrade.
