To be fair though, villa looked really tired in the second halves of those games in the states as well, at least the ones I watched.

I don’t think that Villa players were fit yet. Plus they had to contend with those jerseys that made them look drenched. Sometimes it takes a few matches to get your legs under you, but it was weird to see an entire team there like that
So glad we’re still talking about this
At this point, what is even the benefit of the big teams not joining a super league. They’ll have higher revenues and maybe they can even add a pro/rel aspect to it. The FA is a terrible organization
The fit wasn’t good for the two of them. However, Ronaldo bailed him out of a lot of different games in UCL that year and he deserves some credit for that. Ten Hag didn’t want to adapt his tactics to match Ronaldo’s playstyle (Apparently he does that now with his current lineup), and Ronaldo wanted to play. It’s best for both that they moved on. Ronaldo would have been much better suited to play for City that year in the Haaland role
Get rid of FFP, and create a salary cap with a luxury tax, where all the excess spend gets sent to the lower clubs. It’s the only way that these small teams might be able to compete someday.
Both players tussled, then Haaland gets by and Cucurella pulls him, Haaland goes down. Sure it’s soft but it is a foul. Had Cucurella not touched him he was in for a contested header with Thiago Silva. Does that foul not get called all the time? Sure. Is it still a foul? Yes.
The problem with VAR is that it takes these medium fouls, could go either way depending on the referee, and it lets un analyze them. This is a medium call, be okay with these sorts of calls, and only complain when major decisions, like the Sheffield penalty vs. Wolves and Liverpool VAR goal.
That game was officiated well, get over it. There is fair criticism going around for quite a few games this year but this was not one of them.
I think the correct change is: VAR can only be used to review goals and penalties. VAR ref needs to be on the side of the field and not in a booth so he can see it with his own eyes and get that reaction.
